Grant Mission

Good morning everyone! We have had an amazing week! Koryn got baptized and confirmed on Saturday! She moved to this area when I did and she moved from Elder Thompsons area! So, Elder Thompson and I got to have a couple lessons with her and got to relive the MTC days!  Her baptism was amazing and we had a blast there. The spirit was there and you could see the effect it had on those attending.  My companions and I got to be the chili cook-off judges and the dessert judges at a ward party! The crazy thing is, the Polk family from Arkansas we are teaching, entered the cook-off and had the best chili! It was amazing! She had jalapeños and mushrooms and beef. All the good stuff! We also got to take home a big bag full of candy and haven't even made a dent in it.  It has been an amazing week full of blessings and miracles! The people we found a week ago still love church! The members are really taking them in under their wings and making sure they are loved! It is amazing to see! In that same ward, we got to give 5 minute talks each. But we learned about it 2 hours before the ward started at noon. So we are sitting in the pew and I'm looking through Gospel Library to find something to talk on. I went last which was good so I could find something. The thing was, everything I was going to choose, the spirit just said no to it! I was getting a little confused as I passed scriptures that have changed my life and made me better but the spirit kept saying no. Eventually I thought what if I wing it. And the spirit didn't say no. Now it got a lot scarier. My two companions gave their talks and I walked up to do mine. I just bore my testimony. That's all I could think of. Good morning everyone! Sorry for not sending an email these last 2 weeks!  I finished my time in Afton last Friday! I got moved all the way to a town barely outside Pocatello named Chubbuck! I'm in a trio with Elder Larson (from Hurricane, Utah) and Elder Welch (from Arkansas)! Elder Welch and I can't drive so we both have to let Elder Larson do all the driving. Being in a trio is interesting. It makes the work more fun and helps with keeping conversations going!  This week we had an amazing miracle! It was on Saturday when we went to some referrals the bishop of 1st ward gave us. It was in some apartments that Elder Welch had helped move a lady into a few weeks before. She was also from Arkansas so we went over to check up on her and she is super open! Her name is Averona and she has 4 kids! The oldest is 11, the next is 10, then comes the 5 year old, and the little 1 year old. This family is amazing! We gave them a couple copies of the Book of Mormon and invited them to read...

I will because it snowed on the 21st of September. It wasn't fun. I'm realizing that depending how long I stay here depends on how much snow I get and how cold I am. I've needed a jacket the last 5 days because it was in the 40s and 50s. It's only going to get worse and I can wait for it.  Other things that happened this week! We had our friend Ono go to church and taught him a lesson there! We gave him a Book of Mormon and some members bore their testimonies to him! He is progressing well but doesn't understand English that much.  We also talked to one of our Bishops about his ward and he's on fire! He loves missionary work and is doing all he can to help us with the people we are teaching in his ward! It's great!  Yesterday I went up to Thayne for the day and got to spend the night in their barn house. We split wood from 10 to 12:30 that day and I had to do it in pros pants and a borrowed t-shirt. We got it done and I remember how fun it is to split wood! ...

I'm 100% sure it is still morning for all of you. Now I don't know if all of you will read it in the morning, so here is the title for you who do! Good afternoon! Okay, it has been a busy week this last week. Elder Garcia and I have been working our socks off gathering Israel. It is going fairly well! We have found quite a few people this last week and are hoping to progress them! No one is close to baptism yet except for Tui'ono. He's from Samoa and has come to church every week in the YSA branch. We need to finish teaching him everything so we can baptize him but he's so close!  I have seen the success that comes through comp unity and faith and works. I have usually had comp unity on my mission but either Faith or works have usually lacked. One of the Zone Leaders said that faith and works makes this whole work even possible. I've looked back at that a lot this week and tried to exercise my faith and put forth good works to bring to pass the immortality and e...

Hey everyone, sorry for no email last week, I was waiting to send one after I got transfer news! I'm staying in Afton for another transfer and getting a new companion! His name is Elder Garcia and he's from Arkansas! He's super funny and we get along really well! This area is just a roller-coaster! We used to have 4-5 potentials for this month and now we have like 2. It has been sad to see the situations that make the people we are teaching wait to get baptized. We are doing our best and being diligent while on the Lord's errand and we hope to see miracles! This area is amazing and I can't wait to see what the Lord has in store for it! Good Morning! It's been a fast week and I am looking forward to this next one! It has also been an eventful week! It started with Elder Merrill and I going on a visit with our ward mission leader and his wife. We went to one of their friends house to see some kids from American Samoa that just got here! The wife is Samoan so she could help them out a little but and the kids' brother was here already and is married in the temple and everything! We got talking to the kids and we learned they are interested in taking the lessons! 2 of the 4 are YSA and the other 2 are in a family ward the other Elders cover so we will both teach them as a family! It was really cool and I hope to see them progress! The second one was just yesterday. We were having a normal Monday morning of studies and planning when apparently my comp and the ZL in the house decided to do an exchange.
