The Elect

Hey everyone! Sorry for missing an email this last week, I realized I needed to write one at 10pm and just decided to wait till today.

We had transfers this last week and I get to stay in the Kimberly 1 area and I swapped out Elder Johnson for Elder Villezcas (VE-yez-kas)! He loves anything to do with Sonic the Hedgehog and loves to talk. This is going to be a fun transfer!

Last week went slow like the end of a transfer usually does but now we have to get that momentum again. There weren't a ton of miracles either but they are definitely coming back. 

Something that I saw happen last week was when Elder Johnson and I were teaching this really old guy named Tom Smith. He's a PMF and had been meeting with missionaries for a LONG time and we had finally dug through his concerns to whether or not he believes Joseph Smith is a prophet or not. We had challenged him the week before to make up his mind on that subject but he had forgotten that part of the challenge when we came back. After he told us that, we read stories in the Book of Mormon that he could learn from and testified. Hopefully a few of you know what it's like to have the spirit speak through you but that's what happened after we read the stories. We testified and promised and invited him to be baptized! And he said no. And at the end of us telling him that there's no gray area in truth, he decided that the Book of Mormon was false. 

I felt so sad for him. He was missing out on so much and didn't want it in his life anyway. We still care for him and he still goes to church and to his "calling" every week but doesn't want more. 

Anyway, on a happier note, yesterday was amazing! Especially the end of the day. It was the last 20 minutes of the exchanges and the weather had turned into a blizzard. So, Elder Olson and I went to this one place in the area we went to and decided to tract a little but of it out. The first 3 doors didn't answer but the 4th one did. He invited us in and said he had gone through multiple churches, even ours at one point, and wasn't sure what was true. We taught him about Joseph Smith and that same question he had before finding the truth. We promised him an answer as he meets with the missionaries on the CSI campus. It was amazing to see this great miracle especially in a blizzard at 8:20 at night! 

The elect are ready and I found that out last night. The contrast between the old Part Member family and the guy from last night is so obvious. I am going to be looking for the elect from now on and try my hardest to teach by the spirit too.
