The Lord’s Will

Okay, so, this week has been crazy. No real guarantee who I'll be with each day. I was only with my companion 5 days this week. We had quite a few exchanges. One of them was really good and the other made me realize something.

Our zone does crazy goal oriented exchanges every Monday. Last week was good and really high but this week was even higher than that. We had the goal of 5 people on date and 17 finds per companionship. Now, some companionships did achieve that insanely high goal and others definitely didn't even get close. That could be because of work ethics that they got really low numbers but for me and my area it was a different reason. Sunday night, I felt that the goal was achievable and that we would get it on Monday. Now, when Monday came, Elder Phillips and I got out and worked super hard. Our end totals were 0 on date and 2 finds.

It was quite discouraging to see the success others had (8 on date and 37 finds) compared to ours. But, as I looked back on the day, I saw little moments where we were needed. One call was an older lady who needed an uplifting message and reassurance before going into a serious surgery. One was one of our friend's little sister who ended up loving it and wanting to read the Book of Mormon. We saw more instances where we helped and supported those around us all throughout the day.

The thing that I noticed was that even though we set these goals and made them the purpose of the exchange, the Lord will do what he needs to do. The goal matters little in the grand scheme of the work. I still will work and strive my hardest to reach the goals but I now will try harder to see how The Lord uses me to further his purposes.

It's been a great week and can't wait to continue along this path.
