Probably the worst thing possible. And some fun!
Okay, I'm going to get right to the point here...
We got in a wreck. Not your average wreck either.
We had JUST finished dinner and were starting down the mountain to end our exchange and it had snowed a lot that day (Monday). I decided to drive home to get some more experience driving in the snow because I was going to be doing a lot of it. We were going around a bend with a cliff on one side and the mountain on the other and we started to slip. The car quickly lost control and we barrel-rolled down the mountain. I was following all the rules for driving in the snow too.
We rolled 200+ feet and barrel-rolled about 6 times. We landed on all 4 tires and with no injuries. Elder Laws, our Zone Leader, had a small cut above his eye but nothing else besides that. We opened the doors to the car and got out and immediately said a prayer of thanks for the miracle that had just happened. We were alive and unharmed even though we had basically rolled off a cliff.
We called the cops and the mission president then waited for them to get here. We walked around the car amazed at what had just happened. We walked over to talk to the officer and he seemed a little surprised to see us walking the 100+ yards towards him. They put us in the ambulance and we took some pictures and laughed about what just happened. We were in a bit of shock but fine otherwise.
We went to the hospital for the peace of mind of the mission faculty and our families and got out in about an hour. We came home and got to bed around 11:30pm. No major injuries. Shelton (my greenie) has a small concussion, Elder Laws has a sore shoulder, and I'm fine.
Earlier that day however, we had played a bit in the snow and built a snowman! We named him Gerard and had a big photoshoot with him! Apparently his name is Gerard Williams but that can change.
Overall, I am grateful to still be here and for the miracle we witnessed. We might be biking or walking for a little bit but that is just fine so long as I get to still be out here doing the Lord's work.
Grant Williams
