Be Bold but not Overbearing
This week has been great! A lot of things have happened and I have loved it! It's so fun to see the small miracles and how they always happen just when you need them!
The first miracle was on Friday and it continued throughout the week. We were meeting with Ashley, one of our people on date. She is trying to get Sundays off to go to church but is having a hard time because that's why she was hired. We were talking to Ashley when her daughter who hasn't been interested in the past walked into the room during the lesson and sat down! We talked to her for a bit and after inviting her mom again to church, we asked her if she wanted to go. She said YES! Elder Johnson and I looked at each other and then asked if she had a ride. She didn't so we asked if she would like one. She said yes! We left that night wondering who could give her a ride while recognizing the miracle that had happened!
Another miracle that happened was on Thursday. We saw in our records that there was someone who wanted to be baptized and that there was no reasonable explanation for why he wasn't being taught. So we went to his house and his mom said that he hangs out at his grandparents 99% of the time. So we asked where his grandparents lived and it turns out they live in the same ward and are members! Later that night we go over to the grandparents and he's there playing his games. We sit down and teach him one lesson, but like any 12 year old boy, he's distracted and trying to be funny/cool all at the same time. So I act like he's my younger brother who can be the same way and it worked! He focused a lot more and stopped being so crazy! At the end he even said that he still wanted to be baptized so we set his date for the 29th of January! He is amazing and wants this really bad! We walked away from that recognizing another miracle!
That first one looked like it was falling through when the friend of hers we got the ride from said they wouldn't do it anymore. That was Saturday night. Sunday morning just before church we were frantically trying to get a ride for her when a family we had talked to on Thursday came to mind. We went over to their house and asked them to take this girl they don't know to church and they agreed! They, along with their little kids, gave this girl a ride to church where she saw at least 6 of her friends! She loved it there and was super excited to go back! Then that night, we went over to talk to Ashley and her daughter, her other daughter sat in! And she seemed like she wanted to go to church too! It was amazing! This miracle just keeps going!
A special experience I had this week as well was on Saturday! Some recent converts went to the temple and our mission president said we could go with them! So from 4:30 to 5:30 Saturday afternoon, we got to go do baptisms for the dead in the Twin Falls Temple! It was amazing to be there for their first time going through!
The title of this email is what I have been trying to be recently. Bold. Some might think that overbearing means the same thing but to me it means being bold without love. Every lesson, every door contact, every conversation I have tried to be bold not overbearing. And it works! Those miracles were after acts of boldness! I know this will keep happening as I continue to be bold with love.
