Why Afton? And where is it?

So, transfer news got here Wednesday night and it said I'm going to AFTON. That's in Wyoming. It's far. So on Friday I, along with all the other missionaries getting transfered, moved to my new area. 

It was an hour to Burley to drop off missionaries there and to swap trailers for me to then keep going to Pocatello. It took another hour and 15 minutes to get there to swap my luggage into a truck to drive for two hours out here to Afton. 

Afton is a small town with a population of 2100 people. It's smaller than Kimberly and waaaay more isolated. Mountains on all sides makes for a good view everywhere you look. We live with 2 other Elders who cover half of the Afton stake and half of the Thayne stake. We have 6 wards and the YSA branch that covers all the way up to Alpine which is 40 minutes away! I'm trying to get to know the area and the people we are teaching and it is going pretty well! My companions name is Elder Merrill and he's from Gilbert Arizona. He was trained by my trainer so we are mission brothers! He's great and we get along pretty well!

Overall, I'm excited to be here in Afton and to serve the Lord here!

Hey everyone, sorry for no email last week, I was waiting to send one after I got transfer news! I'm staying in Afton for another transfer and getting a new companion! His name is Elder Garcia and he's from Arkansas! He's super funny and we get along really well! This area is just a roller-coaster! We used to have 4-5 potentials for this month and now we have like 2. It has been sad to see the situations that make the people we are teaching wait to get baptized. We are doing our best and being diligent while on the Lord's errand and we hope to see miracles! This area is amazing and I can't wait to see what the Lord has in store for it! Unexpected surprises...

So, this last week has been amazing. Elder Jones and I have gone around visiting a ton of members so that we can get to know their neighbors. We have already seen success from this and are going to continue to do it. A miracle we saw this last Tuesday was a call from the Seminary teacher in the stake. He called and told us about this girl who wants to be baptized and wanted to meet that next day! So we met with her and 2 of her friends on Wednesday and she is ELECT! Many things in her life have lead her to this moment and now her friends are helping her make that choice to follow the Savior.  After that lesson at noon, we set the next one for 7:30 the next day just before transfers! We taught her the plan that God has for us and invited her to be baptized. She agreed and set a goal for June 3rd! It is amazing what the lord has in store for each and every person on the earth. The Elect

Hey everyone! Sorry for missing an email this last week, I realized I needed to write one at 10pm and just decided to wait till today. We had transfers this last week and I get to stay in the Kimberly 1 area and I swapped out Elder Johnson for Elder Villezcas (VE-yez-kas)! He loves anything to do with Sonic the Hedgehog and loves to talk. This is going to be a fun transfer! Last week went slow like the end of a transfer usually does but now we have to get that momentum again. There weren't a ton of miracles either but they are definitely coming back.  Something that I saw happen last week was when Elder Johnson and I were teaching this really old guy named Tom Smith. He's a PMF and had been meeting with missionaries for a LONG time and we had finally dug through his concerns to whether or not he believes Joseph Smith is a prophet or not.
